Teaser Tuesday

Written by Kirsten on June 16th, 2009

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser for today:

“OreSeur stood, stretched, and placed his forepaws on the wall’s railing to raise himself and look north, like Vin.
Vin shook her head. ‘Sometimes I wish Elend weren’t so… well, noble. The city doesn’t need this confusion right now.'”

From page 344 of Brandon Sanderson’s The Well of Ascension, the second novel in the Mistborn trilogy. The first book was possibly the best fantasy novel I’ve yet read, and I’m just a couple of chapters into this one.

Care to share a teaser of your own?

Good teaser. I’ll have to look these up.
    Here is my teaser

    What a name. That’s certainly a mouthful.

  3. stacy says:

I’m not familiar with these books, but that’s quite a recommendation!

  4. Kirsten says:

Stacy, welcome! I feel like I owe it to Sanderson to let people know how great these books are, given my not-so-gentle treatment of his YA novel, Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians, earlier this year :)

I love the Mistborn series! Elantris is good, too, and I would recommend it to those who enjoy Mistborn. I actually liked Alcatraz too, though I can see where others might not be so fond . . . and I definitely think Sanderson’s adult novels are better than his YA stuff.

I want to add a teaser, but I just finished one thing, and am not far enough in to any other to be able to find a good teaser without risking spoiling my own read! Maybe next time. . . .

Cheers, Darren. I did actually do a vesiorn with blood dripping from the axe. Unfortunately the problem with the camera meant anything moving went pixelated and blocky, so the drips looked like big abstract drops of Lego blood. The shot of the axe in the video is actually about a tenth of a second long but slowed down so it filled the length I needed it to fill.
